My Stonewall and middle game is improving, but it can be better. Move 11: I did wrong choice, moving the center pawn would be better choice, but I was afraid of the pawn fork. Later in move 16 I was able to see the oponent mistake. At the end I was lucky that black did not use his rooks better.

Cant believe I won this. I knew time was wasting and I saw what looked like a good attack after I chased black’s queen around. I didn’t calculate just went for it. I will call this the insane gambit🤣chess.com

You shouldn’t have taken that knight because black could have forced a checkmate in three. Fortunately they didn’t see it! Nice job getting your king out of danger after than, although wandering around in enemy territory with your king must have been nerve wracking!

I love it when a plan comes together.
I am trying to play the Owen’s as black and Stockfish hated most of my moves. They were pretty bad, but I did have a goal in mind after White castled; get my Queen to g2.

I want to share this game where I did nice Stonewall, but than failed in middlegame. I did not see oponent blunder (move 15) and than defended poorly on move 20.

I wanted to share this 5-move finish to end a game. May have been the best combo I ever saw all the way through and I credit Nelson’s “removing the guard” tactic video for giving me the tools to see the “brilliant” rook sack that sealed the deal. I’ve had a few clean games this morning. Here’s another Stonewall with another sacrifice to open the position (a bishop sack this time). I switched over to Lichess (I go back and forth)

Hi. It seems that Most of the games that are shown are 25-100 years old. Why do we not have any example games from the last 5 years from the strongest players? Are the principles no longer followed? Are they too complex now? What of games from club players, do they follow the Steinitz principles?

I suspect that is because the historical games have been thoroughly analyzed and work to teach the principles being discussed.

I’ve been struggling with endgames recently, so I was glad to get this hard-fought win. I missed a few opportunities to chase the rook around and it generally felt like a bit of a cat-and-mouse game. I’m not sure if I should have brought my Queen up on the second rank when he had two rooks there.

Missed mate in 1 on move 22! Doh! I’m not great in endgames, but if I have a queen vs rook like that, I’m actively looking for opportunities to set up forks with the queen to win pawns or the rook.
