Played a 17 move checkmate !
Finally played a game that felt pretty good all the way thru. It was only against a bot, although the bot is about 400 points higher than me. Am I possibly learning something? Can I win against a human?

One step closer to 1500! Got the course on Oct. 10th when I was ~1150. Initially had a sharp drop off, but took some time off and started climbing!

Weirdest opening I’ve seen yet. Lost a winnable game early due to inaccurate moves and adrenaline. Learned a lot too.

Question on move 17. I’m black. according to the review it said I should move my king to G1 instead of my knight move. It said I missed an opportunity to win material thru a fork. Trouble is , if I moved my Queen there the opposing night could take it . What am I missing ?

correction, It said I should move my Queen , not my king

In those situations, flip to analysis, make the move they said you should make (Qg1), then what you thought the response would be (Nxg1), then look at what it says your next move (or series of moves) would be. If the knight took your queen, you had mate-in-1 with Nf1#. So the engine just ignored that possibility, considering it a bad move.

A quick testimonial: Bought the course on Nov 29th and have been climbing steadily ever since! About half-way through the course. My inclination with stuff like this is to “binge” it, but I’m taking my time enough to practice and make sure the lessons stick. Really great content so far and looking forward to more.

Wow, kind of an up and down game – I don’t think the end ratings were very fair, but also.. in this game (I’m black) I somehow spent 2 mins and still missed an M2, and I had M6, did a pawn *check* of all things, and that switched the eval to the opponent leading with +2.0! I scrambled out of it, but this was a bit of a crazy/fun…

I promise not to inundate the board with this stuff, but…
While focusing almost exclusively on preventing Blunders, I got my first “!!”. There was a bishop under where my Queen is prior to that move. I don’t know how “brilliant” it really was, since it was part of a four move sequence in which I was going to win a pawn and a bishop either…

Boy I feel lucky. Around move 27 I sort of tricked my esteemed opponent into doubling rooks which removed the guard from the pawns so I could attack them.
