Fun game and I ran out of time. No way I could see mate in 10. This was after a stonewall attack. According to the review I should never have made it this far.

After the breaking 1500 interference lesson, I realized something. When a king is checked there are only 3 options: move out of check, interpose (block) the check, or capture the checking piece. I see this idea applies to any piece or square on the board you want to capture or occupy and not just a check to the king. Just trying to make a…

I guess for any other piece there is a 4th option, allow the capture if it works to your advantage.

I feel like I have to share this. I just got a victory with someone about 300+ rating than me (in blitz, in rapid I’m close to 1200 but in blitz ~1000) with 3 brilliant moves and 3 blunders. I feel like this completely sums up my strengths and weaknesses 😛

This review reminded me I need to study diagonals and use of bishops for checkmate. I missed a forced mate because I rely on the easier methods and have lost on time because of it.
