I just watched Lesson 5.3, Pawns are the soul of chess, then did some pawn endgame puzzles at Lichess. Coincidentally, I did pawn endgame puzzles there yesterday, with very mixed success. Now I find I’m able to do them with assurance and consistent success. Thank you!

Just reached 1000! Yay for me. Every time I watch a lesson I win a few then apparently forget everything and lose a few 😅
Time to keep reviewing previous modules!

Congrats on the 1000 ! I am so inconsistent I’ve pretty much feel dumber every day. My ego can’t take playing real people so I’ve been doing a lot of Bots. I’ve gone from 1490 to 400 in a heart beat. I do dumb things all the time and get quite discouraged. The only reason I’m still here is that I hold onto the faint hope that I will learn…

Stonewall
Nelson,
What is the best way to avoid a black pawn on e4, which can be very annoying as it prevents the rook lift and other moves.
In fact, the main question is: how do we deal with a black knight on e4 (usually coming from f6)?
If we have a white knight on d2, it does not seem to be a good idea to take the black knight on e4.
It does…

If you can, your goal in the opening should be to prevent any of blacks pieces/pawns from getting to e4, while at the same time controlling e5 with your pawns so your knight can eventually get there. Your light square bishop and knight on d2 should always be preventing their knight from getting to e4. The only exception is if they copy…

So i was in the first running of Breaking 1500, and while i still havent hit 1500, my chess is SO much better. Not breaking 1500 yet is simply because once i hit about 1420 (blitz) i decided to fully scrap my comfortable d4 Stonewall that i loved to learn an e4 repertoire to force me to play more open lines and tactics for my own development.…

Hello. Ryan,
Thank you for sending me your Lichess stonewall study. It is just GREAT!!! I am learning a lot. The move order is so important. Playing c3 is also often crucial.
Congratulations on your accomplishments on chess.com and Lichess. You have become a very strong (and fast!) player.
Not sure how to make comments on the Lichess…

Hey does anyone know if there’s going to be a third group coaching call like there was with the first round of joiners or was there only ever going to be 2 the 2nd time round?
-
My understanding was that the coaching calls were for the first two rounds. He may do some in the future, but I wouldn’t count on it.
