After 11. Qxe4 you’re down material, so don’t trade queens. You should complicate the position. In that case I would’ve Bb5+, they likely would’ve blocked with c6 (to avoid losing castling rights), but then you have them with Re1!
I’m not sure why they abandoned the game with equal material..

I looked at your suggestion and ended up looking a bit worse but I will remember your suggestion! Thanks! Probably a connection issue with the abandonment.

I strongly disagree. Resign immediately and move on to the next game. It is not worth it to defend and then still lose on time. At one point 60% of my losses where on time. What a waste of effort. If the tricked you and won a piece early it is very unlikely that you will ever recover. Quit and quit wasting time.

I’m enjoying the chess.com bots lately. Julia 1800 is good at shutting down the stonewall with dutch or french looking defenses and pawn storms on my castled king. This photo is just one of the examples of its fun openings. My goal is play accurately despite losing and use some of the ideas behind the stonewall, when blacks position allows.

Just broke 1100 after several trips between 850 and 1000. This game was actually relatively free of errors for me until I missed and turned a mate in 1 into a mate in 7. Funny how that adrenaline does. Good game to my opponent 👍🏼

Great playing the whole way through! Nice forks, pressure without a lot of unnecessary risk (I probably would’ve castled a bit sooner). The ending doesn’t matter if it’s M1 or M7.. those open positions aren’t as easy to find M1 anyway. Ps I never usually put my knights on the rim cause I know knights on the rim are grim this was the one time I tried because I saw there was an opening for it

I have a hard time with 10 min games but since I took the course I always practice it but I either play too fast or don’t think enough this was balanced time use for me

He explained his choices, that they’re both solid, and both can generally be played against most of what your opponent may play. So they’re relatively consistent and versatile.

With practice I know these two openings are fine up until at least 1100 because I just broke it. Of course Ive been over 1000 a few times and back down to 850 but its my fault. Pretty fun game where I was defending/loosing untill they made a mistake and I finally got to use the “windmill” tactic in the end and win. 🙂

Nice find toward the end! Windmills are my favorite tactic.. more fun than smothered mate. Okay, maybe an en pessant mate would be the holy grail, but that’s crazy rare.

Any specific detils on how to modify the stonewall if your opponent sets up the King’s Indian? I’m really struggling with that.

Stone Wall against a King’s Indian set up is indeed a difficult one. But a good thing is you see the set up coming. In such a case I always go for a big pawn center majority.

woo, finally hit 1000 on rapid! and got my puzzle rating over 2600!
I started playing chess just over 6 months ago and found this course a couple months ago. Still a way to go until i break 1500 (thats if i can) but absolutely loving the game!
