  • Will there be any more coaching sessions where games get analysed?

    • In one of his recent videos (I think one of his live streams) he said probably after the next time he puts the course on sale he would do one. So I don’t think there are any new ones planned at the moment.

    • The check the King and Queen and everything before each move seems pedantic. However I am doing it and seeing things I otherwise would have missed. It Is taking me longer BUT. Less Blunders. Nelson Is correct. THE ONE TIME YOU DON’T CHECK. U LOSE. LOL

    • Does anyone remember which video (either in section 1 or 2) where Nelson talks about not moving some of the pawns on A2, B2, or C2 and some of the troubles that causes?

    • HELP anyone please… I open with the Italian…. Once I castle ( asap ) I get attacked . I seem to corner my King it feels. What to do? Please anyone? TY In advance .

      • Tim

Maybe bring some more pieces out and optimize, keeping your options open for which side to castle, even.. and you’ll always be ready to castle in one move.

      • Gotta say, very frustrated . Got every question on the part 9 test wrong. Felt totally unprepared for it. Would have been nice if an explanation forr the logic of those moves was provided. Or at least a reference to where in the course i could go to and see the materials.

        Not a happy camper now

      • Is there away to restart the coarse to redo it again?

        • While it won’t clear your progress. You can rewatch the videos at any time you want.

          • Yup.doing it now. Go to 1500 course, view details, and the whole thing comes up

          • So have you done any rating climb videos using the Stonewall and Owens defencse as you talk about in the courses?

            • It did sound like he was going to do another live group coaching session as a rating climb using Owen’s Defence & Stonewall in his last group session hey!?

It’s been over 3 months now though so I’m guessing it’s not gonna happen unfortunately. Maybe he couldn’t get another account with Chess.com?

Devo though, that would have been really good…

            • Hope someone can help? Trying to download materials from chapter to tr pgn on my ipad.

File donloads bit doesnt open jus says stonewall_lines data 360 bytes.

Do the matrials not download on ios only windows?

              • The stonewall_lines.pgn file I downloaded is just a text file that is only 360 bytes in size. I also have a zip file for that (which may have been how it downloaded, don’t remember). The equivalent file for the Owens defense is 914 bytes in size.

I don’t have an iPad, but the problem may be that iOS doesn’t know what to do with a pgn file so…

              • Nelson is an amazing player and an exceptional teacher. I love the course. But I did find this which somewhat contradicts what he said about being over 1500 puts you in the 96% percentile (granted, he said based on chess.com). Not trying to be ultra-critical; just want people to realize that if they reach 1500, there may be more people above…

                • Just curious, if I look under my stats on chess.com and click on “Rapid”, it tells me that roughly 80% of the players have lower ratings than me. I am well short of a 1500 rating. Where did you get the data for the estimate on chess.com?

Certainly not going to question the FIDE and USCF rating estimates, as those groups are self selected…

                  • I asked ChatGPT to do research

                    • Tim

FIDE and USCF info is likely pretty close to accurate, but not what it said about online. In the 1200 range you’re at about 92% on chess.com. Chess.com and FIDE ratings are relatively similar for the same person typically from what I’ve researched.. the reason the percentile is so different is there’s literally millions more beginners…
