  • Nelson, I would love a how to video on how to properly use the chess.com library. I’m starting to annotate my live games, then enter them in as a collection. So that I can review the games with the chess engine. Watching your videos and how quickly you pull up board examples I’m left in awe at how extensive your chess.com library must be, plus…

    • FYI I’m currently on Module 5, and I really enjoyed module 4 and want to rewatch everything again. Supper happy with the purchase!

      • @CascadesStudios Hey Gary! What exactly do you mean when you say I pull up board examples quickly? From what you said it sounds like you are using the library correctly already, but maybe I’m not understanding properly! Let me know!

    • This course has been fantastic! The blunder checklist has, by itself, raised my Chess.com rating by over 150 points! All 3 of my kids have a double-sided checklist based on this course. I am attaching them here in case they are helpful to anyone.

      • @anariogmail-com Great to hear that, Anar! Glad to hear your kids are using it too! And thanks for sharing the graphic!

        • Excellent graphical aids. My engineering background shows when I make anything like that. It works, great! Someone complaining that is totally hideous, whatever – go find yourself an architect or graphic artist as appropriate 🙂

        • Playing Owens Defense, I thought taking with the knight was preferable over the bishop. Chess.com says otherwise. Thoughts?

          • I set up the position and I didn’t see a really significant difference between the stockfish ratings between the two capture options.

Maybe my standards are too low, but I’m generally happy if the game review says my moves are good. While I always look at what it would say were the best moves, it is the negative opinions (inaccuracy,…

            • Thanks, John – that makes sense

              • Gary, maybe the idea is that if you take with the bishop you can force a trade of pieces and since you’re up a pawn that gets you closer to the endgame. But I still would have taken with the knight just like you did, and I think in general you will find that’s going to be the better option. Game review on chess.com isn’t perfect, and I think…

                • Thanks Nelson

                • Hi All,
I have joined recently and still going through modules but wanted to ask how’s people experience playing with Stonewall and Owen’s defence openings

                  • They are both playable in a variety of ways and I have found knowing a specific opening helps me feel as if things are more predictable. I win some and lose some but thats my inconsistency and no fault of the opening.

                    • I absolutely love the stonewall. I highly recommend it. As for the Owen’s defense, I am struggling a lot. I can’t find my rhythm with it.

                    • I am liking both openings and have been doing well (ok, not sucking too hard) with both. What I like about the Owen’s is that it seems to take a lot of players by surprise and they don’t know how to respond. Several times that bishop that you fianchetto on move two will sit there the entire game until it lasers across the board to be crucial… Read more

                      • I am going through other modules and then give them a go again so have better tactics in middle game

                      • Anyone know where/how to email or otherwise reach Nelson?
