Here are two versions of defense against stonewall. Brown is dr wolf app and gray is “play magnus” app age 30.
Its easy to quickly take back and try different lines. Magnus app is very strong. I tested it against the chess.com capablanca bot and magnus app won in 30 moves with a 97.8 accuracy. The magnus at 12 years old beats the dr wolf on…

Nelson’s breaking 1500 course has me thinking better. I like to play a few games after each module to apply what he has taught. Latest 10 minute game i was at 780 and this was black to play. I was pretty happy at this point. Stonewall.

I see a lot of players at my level 680-ish move a pawn then Bc4 and Qh5 when I play owens with black. One guy made a bunch of queen moves and I tried to chase while developing; and finally just resigned in the middle. I suspect people are just trying things out. Thoughts are welcome.

Hi Keith, you are absolutely right to just continue developing (as long as your king is safe). Many players in that ELO range try the “Scholars Mate” which is the bishop and queen move you described. To keep the spirit of the Owen’s when they do that, I’d say play knight to F6 is a good move to block that attack and get a tempo with your…
