The better you start your games, the more likely you are to force your opponent into weaker positions, blundering, and making costly mistakes…
Which is why we’ll spend two full Levels studying this critical part of the game!
We’ll start by learning the principles behind a great opening, so you’re better able to make the right moves even if your opponent doesn’t do what they’re “supposed” to do.
Here’s some of what you’ll learn:
- Memorizing Mistakes: It’s impossible to memorize every single move your opponent might make at the start of the game – I’ll show you how to “80/20” any opening so you focus on the most important moves and master it faster
- 8 Opening Principles: Learn the why behind the opening so you make better decisions when things don’t go to plan – You’ll also be able to spot early opponent mistakes so you can take advantage of them later in the game

Middlegame Tactics
If you want to master the middlegame, learning how to spot and implement tactics is a key skill of the game.
So next we’ll fine-tune your focus by learning 22 of the most effective middlegame tactics to go on the offensive after the opening.

- Forks, Pins, Skewers, and More: These are some of my favorite tactics for forcing your opponent into uncomfortable situations – Leading to more mistakes, more blunders, and more winning games
- Discovered Checks & Attacks: Another great way to stack the pressure on your opponent is using “discovered” checks and attacks – I’ll show you multiple examples of how to use these at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels
- Key Piece Sacrifices: Sometimes the only way to get the advantage is by sacrificing one of your key pieces – I’ll show you how and when to make these brilliant moves

The second key to mastering the middlegame is knowing how to strengthen your position while weakening your opponent’s – Which is what positional strategy is all about!
So next we’ll learn how to create a game plan that gives you the perfect balance between going on the attack and defending your position as the game evolves.
Here’s some of what you’ll learn:
- Steinitz Strategy: From the creator of positional strategy himself, learn the strategic rules for attacking and defending each position – I’ll also show you how to simplify your strategy so you always know what the next best move is
- Powerful Pawns: Don’t underestimate the power of your pawns! I’ll show you multiple powerful pawn formations and how to identify weaknesses in your opponent’s pawn structure
- Strong vs. Weak Squares: Being aware of weak squares and “color complexes” gives you an advantage in both positional and tactical strategy – I’ll show you how to find the weak squares and attack them
