I got this course immediately when it came out last year and fell in love with the stonewall. I got up to 1200 from around 1050 rapid and then hit a wall where I wasn’t improving, it almost felt like I was going backwards making very obvious blunders and mistakes. I think I was more focused on being robotic with my moves instead of playing chess. So I am coming back from a 4-5 month break, going through the course again, and hopefully something will click and I can get up to that elusive 1500 mark!

      • Good luck, Drew!

        • Thanks so much for sharing your story! We’re happy to hear that the Stonewall sparked something for you early on! That jump from 1050 to 1200 is no small feat, and it speaks to the effort and consistency you put in.

Hitting a plateau is something most players face, especially around the 1100–1300 range. It’s easy to get caught in “autopilot” mode (making moves because they’re part of the plan rather than because they fit the position). The fact that you’ve recognized that will help you move past it.

Taking a break and now returning with fresh eyes is a great move. A lot of players underestimate how much clarity can come from revisiting material after some time away.

1500 is definitely within reach! We’re excited to see how far you’ll go this time around. – we’re rooting for you!
