As a tip for Lichess players who may be wondering whether they lost to a cheater. Look closely at your opponents’ ratings right at the start of the game. I’m a beginner in the upper range (1410).
After having been assigned several chess opponents who were significantly stronger in rating than me, I’m slowly losing interest in this game on lichess. For example, one of my opponents had a rating of (Blitz 2000, Rapid 2170, classical 1500?) just because they’ve never played Classical, this player is rated around 1500. That’s ridiculous. It shows how stupid artificial intelligence and algorithms are. That happened 4 times in one day.
I’ve learned that not every extremely strong opponent has to be a cheater. I feel like I’ve been really taken for a ride by lichess.org.

I use Lichess to test things out against non-bots because I don’t care about that rating. I also use it to build personal studies on openings.
Chess.com would have the same issue regarding ranking though. I have a friend around 1600-1700 on Chess.com that doesn’t play Rapid so his ranking is 800 on that. If one day he decided to play Rapid he’d probably go on a 50-60 game win streak until some 1200-1300 player upset him.

Thank you for your reply, I like your attitude. I also use lichess mainly for studies and learning, because I like it better on lichess than on chess.com. The rating is not important to me either, but I just feel like I’m being made a fool of when I play against a 1700, 1900, 2000 or 2700 player. I’ve had 12 games like this so far. I’m going to turn off the rating or play unrated. At 74, I probably won’t be a GM for the next 6 months, so what the heck.
