+I could use your help. Even tho I totally suck at chess I’ve lost a number of games today by my pieces moving involuntarily . It seems that sometimes with my finger near the piece it moves ? I’m using a laptop and not sure what I’m doing wrong. I thought I had to tap on the piece then tap on the square I want it to move to. Without me tapping it sometimes gets dragged across the board anyway. What am I doing wrong ?

      • If your touchpad is registering your tap as a click and hold or picking up unintentional clicks (because it’s too sensitive, or getting sticky if the laptop is old), I can see this happening. With a mouse, you can click-hold-drop pieces. So maybe turn off the tap to click setting and use the buttons instead?

        • Will try, thanks. I Don’t need help losing, I’ve mastered that skill !

I don’t play on my phone as it’s doom. Probably similar issue here. Cats attacking the computer mouse with my hand on it is still a hazard but a lesser one.

You force chess dot com to only register drag moves but not sure if that’s on all platforms. It’s an option that must be set and I absolutely set it after some accidents.

            • Cat ? What is its ELO ? That might actually improve my games.

              • Ah, so that’s where the expression “cat and mouse” comes from!!
