Hi Nelson and team. In the Owen’s defense, what do you do if right after pinning the knight, they try to chase it away moving the pawn to a3? To you retreat or do you just trade for the knight right away?

If there’s a pawn sitting on e4 with only one other defender and I have both my other bishop and knight attacking it (or if the knight is the sole defender and my bishop is attacking it), I take the knight and then take the pawn. Every scenario that I’ve come across the engine says that trading the bishop is the best move there even if the pawn isn’t hanging on e4.

Yeah James is right, usually you’ll want to trade the bishop for the knight so you can keep the pressure going on the light squares in the center.
