Drew posted an update
First off I love this course, all the time and effort put into making it really shows.
However, after going through the tactics section I found that now when I’m playing games, I can’t help but look for every possible kind of tactic after every move. Not only am I looking for all these tactics, but trying to calculate the continuations, and do a blunder check. Trying to do all this eats up way too much time. I am overwhelmed thinking about finding the best moves and not blundering/allowing my opponent to set up an attack.
I need help with getting overwhelmed. Any advice from the community would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure how far you’ve gotten in the course but in module 10 @ChessVibes recommends working on 1 thing at a time until it becomes 2nd nature. For myself, my most important thing to master is blunder checking. So, I will continue to look for tactics but I will prioritize blunder checking and of course try to leave sufficient time to make more moves. If after blunder checking I need to make a move I will just try to improve the pieces for now if no tactic is glaringly obvious.

I had not made it to module 10 yet, but what you said makes a lot of sense. I think I will try to play 10 games with a specific goal in mind like blunder checks, and try and get faster at doing them until it becomes more natural

Drew, just start with the 1 or 2 move tactics. If you don’t see something right way, then move on. It’s okay that you’ll miss some more complicated ones (3+ moves) from time to time. The point is to get really good at the basic 1/2 move tactics and not use all your time each game. Eventually you’ll get to the point where the 1/2 movers are really obvious and you’ll be able to take it to the next level and see the more complicated ones. Just remember, it takes time for your brain to get faster and faster at recognizing those patterns. Hope this helps!

Not only am I looking for tactics for me, but also keeping an eye out for tactics my opponent has. Even though I’m only playing people 1100-1300, I find they are finding some really advanced tactics a lot of the time. Could be opening prep or maybe they are more advanced players and they haven’t caught up to their true elo range yet. That’s why I sometimes feel like I should be finding more tactics because my opponents are finding them.
