Ok I think the Stonewall is starting to make sense as a whole. There are infinite variations but by focusing on the key ideas I think I am about to turn this losing franchise around. Here is my first Stonewall victory since starting the course. Granted my opponent blundered his queen, but that was a result of sticking to the opening and taking my time making the moves. My opponent resigned after my 18th move, and I had a 94.5% accuracy rating. I am really starting to believe that all the rating points I lost was simply an inevitable side effect of learning a new opening system. The losing streak has been broken and I am ready to keep on grinding my way to 1500!!!

94% accuracy! That’s fantastic. It’s actually not unheard of at our level but it’s pretty rare. The thing about the game that would have me very worried is losing the defense of my king. His rooks and remaining bishop were tied up in traffic so you weren’t in immediate danger but having no pawns by my king means extra work and opportunities for tactics on their side.. But there’s another rule – play until they blunder. Turns out king defense didn’t matter after all this time, but a queen loose on an undefended king is usually bad news.

Yeah it almost seemed like his attack just ran out of steam. I was worried about my King but I figured my only hope was to stay on the attack. It is mind-blowing how massive one tempo can be, literally the difference between a win and a loss can come down to whose turn it is to move.

Thanks man, I know the accuracy is mostly because it was a short game and my opponent did not play that well, but just seeing the accuracy number start with a 9 just made my day lol. Thanks for the compliment!
