Ryan posted an update
Went full tilt today. Was like a gambler that just needed one hand to get right. Lost 100 points in last 24 hours and lost a week of climbing up in bullet.
Dropped from 1184 to 1089

It’s now a multi-day tilt. Woke up, immediately lost 5 out of 6.
I’m now down 140 points since Friday. It’s like I legitimately forgot how to play

Wasn’t even like it was long stretches either. I’d give myself 5-6 games, do poorly, then would review them. I’d go study up on things I missed, come back a couple hours later, then drop a bunch more.
This continued like that all weekend. Watched videos on how to attack fianchettoed bishops and King’s Indian…come back…and get destroyed some more.
Beyond frustrated. Started blundering, which I had pretty much fixed. 🤬🤬🤬

Hey Ryan, as a chess and poker player I can totally feel your pain. I am not rated as high as you are, but what I have found to be true is that whenever I learn new openings or strategies I always lose rating points. Stay positive but more importantly take the time to find your losing move, or moves, and focus on building confidence. Nobody’s rating climb is linear, but going on tilt and making moves really fast is what cost me 200 rapid rating points. But I believe it is part of the process, and every loss offers a valuable lesson to be learned. Stay the course and believe in yourself! You will get those points back in no time!

Maybe time to let your brain ” reset ” ! I sometimes need to do that especially with the puzzles 😵💫

If I play too long I start losing a lot. Also I’ve found it better to use longer time controls as you can’t apply new knowledge at full speed. I’m not even bothering with games under 10 minutes and I’ve been doing initial exploration on 30 minute games so I have time to actually think things through. The old crawl-walk-run theory of learning.

Bottomed out at 988 today. Rebounded up (finally) to 1021, but still playing very poorly relative to just a week ago

Stay positive man, I play poker so I can totally relate to feeling tilted but chess is more infuriating because there is no bad luck river card so I get more upset knowing that anything that goes wrong is on me. sometimes I will take a break from playing people and just switch to playing bots for a few games just to build back up some confidence and then go back to live games. Hope it turns around for you soon my good man!
