I just finished the first module. Very helpful thoughts and counsel, no matter how good you are. Chess, like many things, can be a head game. I think another point worth highlighting (based on personal experience, anyway) is the temptation to not play human games for fear of losing and lowering your ELO… a consequence of your ‘worse before better’ point means accepting in advance the possibility of ‘ELO down before up’.

      • Good point, Bill!

        • I can relate to those feelings about bots !

          • Not a fan of playing bots more often than not: the mistakes they make are not very human and their good moves can be better than humans at the same rating at times too. I typically play new openings in blitz first because that rating is less good compared to my rapid so I care less. Opening a second account on chess.com is allowed if you follow the rules of doing so ( https://support.chess.com/en/articles/8568381-can-i-have-multiple-accounts ) or creating a lichess account for practicing openings. But yes, best to not worry about rating.
