Finally broke 1500! Joined this course last year and wanted to say thanks to Nelson for putting this together and for the community of people in this blog. My recipe was doing puzzles daily – got my peak rating up to 2500, and forcing myself to stop studying and play more.
This is the game that pushed me over – its not my cleanest game nor does…

Well played and well done for breaking 1500. Do you happen to know what the opening was for white e4, c3 – it looked a pretty good opening?

Haven’t had the time to play much recently but still taking a few minutes each day to do puzzles. Highly recommend adding ‘poop time puzzles’ to your training regiment for anyone out there who can’t always commit the time they’d like to! XP

Stonewall has been leading to a lot of drawish games for me so I switched up the opening yesterday and decided to just try to use the principles I’ve learned. Ended up having one of the funnest games in awhile and managed to spot a tactic on move 10 that lead to a fun check mate on move 17! https://www.chess.com/game/live/118282705635

Really satisfying Queen trap in the middle of the board on move 11 in the Owens. Stockfish being rude and marks as an inaccuracy – I used a rook to trap the queen and it liked using the knight to do it while developing (rolls eyes).

Wow really feeling the gains from this course already! Played the best positional game of my life just now, every single piece just felt so coordinated and always defended. Stienitz would be proud.

Really fun example of zugzwang, loved how forcing this was this sequence was without ever having to give a check.
