Hi Andrew! It certainly could be helpful, when you try to play fast under time pressure (if you are low on time in a real tournament match). However, I would just suggest finding tournaments will longer time controls so you can think and spend as much time as needed – Rapid is the best for this (10 mins, 30 mins, etc.).

Yes, that happens to me as well. There are 3 types of wins in chess (at least for me): attacking wins, opponent blunders and slow-playing. Of course, there is still the ‘opponent disconnects and loses on time’ win. The attacking wins feel great like you’ve actually accomplished something; the ones where your opponent blunders make me feel…

I have personally encountered this, but if you think the time usage is consistent even for obvious moves (such as mate in 1s, or recapturing a piece), try checking game review. Not to mention it took them 30 minutes to play 32 moves and still lost on time. If the accuracy for your rating is strangely high (plus consistent time usage), you…

I hope your swiss tournament went well and sorry for this late reply.
It is definitely a good learning experience playing against higher-rated people, especially with such a big rating gap. However, many people in Blitz and Bullet chess would just play with their instincts, and not actual calculation (more like hope chess in a way). So in… Read more

Sometimes, that happens to me too. When you have Stockfish or any engine telling you to play a move, you are like “how did I not see that?” You may have already scanned the move and thought it was crazy, but didn’t see the follow-up. It is easier to justify a move once you see Stockfish backing it up and thinking it is good.
