I’m playing the stonewall, or trying to, but in 80% of the games I’m playing my opponents (rated 800ish) are castling queenside. Its like they know whats coming. So i try not to commit pieces to the kingside until they have castled. Then if they go queenside I just push my pawns like crazy and get my queen and bishops pointing that way.…

It’s a good plan to push pawns and bring your queen when they O-O-O. You just need to figure out your plans and your timing, in my experience that’s the hardest part usually at this level. Try to target the pawns in front of the King and try to keep the center closed so they can’t sneak in easily, that’s what has helped me at least but of…

Anyone find they have a screen size preference? I seem to win more often on my phone than my laptop 😂
Maybe because its easier to see the entire board?

I never play on my phone versus real opponents (only bots) because I can’t draw arrows on the screen and that seems to help me with tough positions

I’m rated around 800, and playing opponents in the 650-850 range. They aren’t blundering. My last 4 or 5 games my opponents have had 80% accuracy, many best moves found, and zero blunders. The engine is rating their performances in the 1200-1500 range. Then I’ll get low on time (I haven’t gotten quick at blunder checking yet), move too quickly…

OMG! I just got on to make a similar comment. I was slowly climbing, climbing, climbing, and now I feel like I’m losing eight out of ten games the past week to players that aren’t making any mistakes. I was wondering if playing on weekends is harder than through the week for some reason? Do more good players hop on for the weekend (or is…

It’s weird. Until recently I played purely to pass the time when Netflix is rubbish, but I’ve decided I want to get better. In the “Netflix distraction” games I would do game reviews and realise my opponent had hung pieces or given me a fork or I’d missed a checkmate. Now I’m trying to improve it’s like these same players have suddenly…

Latest game. Another “700” who just got 93% accuracy and no blunders!! What is going on?

New game. Opponent 722. 89.2% accuracy. 0 blunders. How is it possible to improve against these opponents?

I feel your frustration. It does seem like sometimes you run into a string of better players. That said, usually the mistakes are there, but maybe they’re not as obvious as hang-a-piece-in-one-move. Could you post one of these games?
