I am curious about other’s experiences. To date, I have a 71% win-rate with white and a 48% win-rate with black.
I know White is advantaged, but is that a normal spread for most players?
Also, for chess.com ELO, from what I can tell, it does not take into account piece color. That is, if I face another 1170 player, I will get +8 on a win, +0 on…

Don´t know if that spread is normal or not.
BUT I can say I have a very similar spread as you, and a 48% win-rate with black.
I don´t think there should be any splits in ELO ratings for different colors… Chess com does set you up with 50/50 games of white / black pieces, so there is therefore balance in the ELO rating.

Yeah, I usually hover around the same figures. Tbh I think the advantage of white is the main reason. Also, the Stonewall is a very dynamic opening that challenges players around 1000 ELO!

Request for Nelson to add to Bonus section:
I literature list of books you would recommend to supplement the lessons taught in your course.
Thanks either way.

Another Testimonial for Nelson and Breaking 1500.

Tonight, I just crossed 1100 at 1108.
+352 ELO in 36 days.
Progress was slow at first, as I was making my way through the course and playing. For the last several weeks, I am focused almost exclusively on preventing…

I promise not to inundate the board with this stuff, but…
While focusing almost exclusively on preventing Blunders, I got my first “!!”. There was a bishop under where my Queen is prior to that move. I don’t know how “brilliant” it really was, since it was part of a four move sequence in which I was going to win a pawn and a bishop either…

Broke 1000 today.
Thanks Nelson. I am missing tactics everywhere, but my blunders are way way down, which is my current focus.
It has been decades (high school) since I played competitively (on a team) and your YouTube videos reminded me of how much fun that was. Then I decided to take your course and it has made me much better. Can’t thank…
