I think Nelson talked about this in one of the videos, maybe the last coaching call? I like to play 4… Nf6 first, so the knight has a place to go if they play 5. e5. Then probably the bishop is going to e7. I think you need to move the knight first though. If you move the bishop to e7 first and they play e5, then the knight is kind of stuck.

Playing the top move 3 times in a game at 1200 actually sounds low to me. I’m rated ~1100 and did a quick check of the game I played last night. The game went 25 moves, I played the top engine move 12 times and my opponent played it 8 times. Now, a lot of these were simple recaptures where the best move was clear.

I usually keep playing. I’ve come back to win a decent number of games where I’ve lost a queen early. At lower levels, your opponent is just as likely to blunder their queen, or (more often) get careless and blunder checkmate. I’ve also lost games when my opponent has blundered their queen…

Nice job recovering in that one! I think I would be tempted to play 4… d5. Seems like you’d either get an exchange of pawns and then you could safely play Nf6, or they would play 5. e5, and you could try Ne7 then Nf5, or I see the computer suggests expanding on the queenside.
