      Nelson,

I played the stonewall defense last night and the when I pushed the pawn to f4, black’s next move was his bishop to g4 threatening my queen. I moved my knight to f3 to block but then black’s bishop took my knight and threatened the queen again. I took his bishop with my queen. Was that the right move or should I have taken his bishop with g2 pawn?

I ended up losing the game not too longer after. Will you review any of our games in this course? I I’m licking my wounds and determined to take your advice and play it at least 10 times. But I would like to understand where I went wrong and what I could have done better.

      • Yeah David, send the link to the game and I’ll probably review a few from those openings since it will help everyone else as well! My first thought is that yes, I would probably take with the queen as well, but I’ll have to see the game to be sure.

          • Thanks we’ll take a look in the group coaching call! And one thing I noticed right away, instead of Nc3 (on move 8), I think you should put your pawn on c3 to defend d4 and limit black’s knight on c6. Then you play Nd2 and THEN push e4 and you’ll be in much better shape cause you won’t lose the d4 pawn like in the game.
