<p>Try playing custom puzzles on Chess.com aimed at particular tactics. I would recommend not going past the Blunder Check module until you feel comfortable with each of the tactics. In my opinion the basic principles and tactics are more important than memorizing lots of openings.</p>

<p>It has a simple puzzle with a chess board. You are given a coordinate like d3 or h7 and asked to point to the spot on the board. I do at least ten of these daily.</p>

<p>I am getting a lot out of this course even though not moving as quickly as some others.</p>
