I think my biggest gain from this course has been comebacks from my blunders XD. Highest rating thus far and nearing that 1200 mark!

I have to share this game. After a couple of great games, I went on a blunder fest for 2 games. This was the 2nd game in a row where the Queen was offered to me on a platter and I totally whiffed. But in this game, I pulled through despite being tilted from the previous game!

I’ve only had 2 90% accuracy games (so far). The last one was a draw, and here’s the one from tonight:

And to be fair, the game I played right before this I threw as well. I’m glad I didn’t tilt from it.

This is an interesting game review. I found myself up a full rook and bishop and yet the engine says he didn’t blunder (some mistakes yes, but you’d think being up that much materially would involve a blunder). I’m loving the Owen’s Defense.

I credit this win to the blunder checking. Remember, don’t just check to make sure you aren’t blundering, check if your opponent blunders. I was trying so hard to figure out how to remove that queen defender from the C6 square and then he hands it to me!

A nice win James and you have my respect for doing the blunder checks. I’m still trying to implement the blunder checks but still find that sometimes don’t do it thoroughly enough. I’m hoping after I get 10 or 20 games done with it that it might start to be more consistent and done from start to finish.

Blundered my rook early, but didn’t let it get me down and found the win!

A superb win Nicholas after losing the rook. The eval bar was a joy to watch in those last few moves as it swung back and forth before win. Pure tenacity!

I have lost my rook to that bishop too many times!! I felt your pain, for sure!! Seeing the game from white’s perspective really helped me see the weaknesses of Owen’s defense. Certain moves need to be played, otherwise the weaknesses become very easy to exploit (i.e. Nf6). Your opponent had you on the ropes for a while, and I was reliving…
