      Hi Nelson,

Really enjoying the course so far. One question: with the Owen defence you say that people most of the time go for a strong center with pawns on e4 and d4. However, in all the games that I tried this defence, my opponent (rating 1100-1200) played pawn to d3 after I played bishop to b7. How do you deal with this? I think you havent mentioned this possibility in your videos.

      Thanks!

      • To make it more clear: they first push their king pawn to e4 and after I play pawn to b6, they never go for pawn to d4. They first go for a knight or bishop movement and after my bishop to b7 they play pawn to d3.

        • They nice thing about the Owen’s is that even if they don’t follow the exact moves we discussed, you can usually do well with following a similar way of developing your pieces. For example, b6, Bb7, e6, Nf6, Bb4 (if knight is on c3 and if not then Be7, 0-0 and then probably strike at the center with d5. Just keep the main concepts and ideas in mind and you should be able to adapt it to what your opponent is doing. Hope that makes sense! Regarding d3 specifically, I think the idea of striking with d5 fairly early after developing is what I would do.
