Drew posted an update
My problem right now is I have these spurts where I play pretty good getting 80%+ accuracy most games, seeing the board very well, and finding great moves. Then all the sudden after a week or so,my brain turns to mush and I start blundering a lot and missing easy to find moves and I’ll start having games where I am 50%+ accuracy or even less. I don’t know why this happens, but I just end up taking a couple weeks off to reset and the cyclestarts over :/

That’s why I was wondering about going “stale ” & advice on what to do !!

I’m pretty sure it happens to most people under 1500. If you feel tilted, go do some puzzles or play some bots to get back in the zone. Taking 1-2 days off to “reset” might be a good thing but I don’t think you can get better at anything by taking weeks off. Keep going at it !

@deroqc89gmail-com by taking a couple weeks off…I stop playing games but I still study/watch videos and do tactics puzzles (my tactics rating also drops too). Then once I feel I’ve got my mind right again, I jump back into games.
For example, I play against a friend who’s 1600+ and I can win 1/5 games, often never blundering or mistakes. Then I’ll go play random people in 10min games and I struggle to beat 900s. It is very frustrating.1 -
Did you try 30min games ? 10 min is pretty short if you’re trying to develop a new thinking process. Maybe it’s just a “me” thing though, I just cannot play shorter games without playing like a 600 xD

I definitely feel like a 600 some days :/ it’s hard with my work schedule to get longer games in, but I might bump it up and try some 15l10 games.
