      Hey Nelson,

I have been exploring the Stonewall Attack opening. After watching a YouTube of Kaspachess on the Stonewall, I have a couple of questions regarding your PGN file for the Stonewall:

      1. After 1.d4 d5 2.e3 Nf6 3.Bd3 e6 – you recommend 4.f4. Kaspa says that 4.Nd2 is more accurate because it prevents the move 4…Ne4, which would mess up our Stonewall setup. He plays 5.f4 on the next move. Could you explain why you recommend 4.f4?

      2. After 9…Bb7 – you recommend 10.Rf3. Kaspa says that 10.Qf3 is a KEY MOVE in the Stonewall Attack. With the Bishop on b7, there is potentially 3 pieces attacking e4 while White only has two defenders. By moving the Queen to f3 White adds a defender to e4. The threat is Black jumping his Knight to e4 and then playing pawn to f6 creating his own Stonewall attack with a better attacking Bishop on b7. The other attacking idea after 10.Qf3 is g4, g5 to kick the Knight away with a potential Greek Gift.

I thought these were interesting ideas that might be a good topic for discussion. Thanks.

      Bob

      • Hey Bob, I haven’t seen those videos on the Stonewall but if I get some time I will try to take a look and possibly answer some of these in the group coaching sessions.
