It seems to me that if you move the rook to e1 rather than take the knight right now then the knight can go back to c6. When you move your knight for your discovered attack the c8 bishop can block on e6. Not a great position for them but they will be able to castle and not lose any pieces as the queen defends the bishop.

Hi Nelson,

2 questions – (for context currently 1200 elo. Started at 950 so thank you the course has been helpful!).

1) When would it be useful to start regularly reviewing professional/model games. Once it is time how do we best approach it.

2) How do you best capitalize when the opponent makes slow moves or does not properly develop. Often… Read more

If you’re unsure of your rating on chess.com then it is very likely 1200 is quite a bit higher than you will want to be starting at. If you are fairly new to it then either 400 or 800 rating would likely be the best place to start. Though without seeing your games or knowing your history I cannot really say.

Finding great value in the course currently, up 100 rating to my highest rating ever of 1064. Only a few sections into the middle game section and i must say its by far the biggest eye opener, my post game review post game ‘rating’ in each game is now consistently around 1600-1700 rather than the 900-1000 it was before.
