Just finished watching the coaching call. What a great session. Thanks, Nelson.
I really like the thought of dong a rating climb with the two openings if that is possible.

I just wanted to share this with the group. Playing the Owen my rapid rating was 699 (I started the course on the 15th with a rating of 610) my opponent was 668, so I should have the uper hand. I did the game review and the little fella in the window commented “Your opponent had a good opening but you were on another levell, you overpowed your…

Hello, I have a question about chess.com I’m wondering if anyone can please help. In settings I can change the rating limts for incoming and outgoing challenges, mine are all set to ANY which must be the default setting. My question is, with my rating being low should I set it to something other then ANY and if so to what? it’s confusing to…

Hi Paul, for what it’s worth I set mine at plus and minus 100 and get a good mix in and around my level, so as I hopefully improve so will my opponents.
-
Paul, the + and – just refers to how much higher or lower rated your opponents could be. So if you only want players at a very similar rating to yours you would keep those values as small as possible.

Also wondered about that !

Is anyone familiar with electronic chess sets? I’ve been looking on YouTube at two specific companies, Millennium and Chessnutech. I really like the Chessnut line of products, especially the ability to buy sensors, which allows you to have multiple sets to play OTB games. The actual feeling and moving of the pieces is so enjoyable to me, that…

Following this thread. I also really like over the board play, but am stuck playing exclusively online since no one I know plays chess (other than online)

Yes Ryan I’m also limited to who I can play, most of my games are played on my iPad at Chess.com and some on Litchess. I really like the Chessnut electronic products with the Bluetooth connections, looks pretty slick. I just need to decide which one.

I have a chessnutech one and have been pretty pleased with it. Can’t speak to Millennium. My favorite sets are from House of Staunton (like the one you see in my background) but those are not electronic.

I bought the Chessnut evo a few months ago and I am very pleased with it. It has Stockfish and Maya on board, but also connects to for example Chess.com. The board indicates with leds where a piece has to go. It has an integrated tablet, so you can play on a screen and the board at the same time.

Thanks guys I appreciate your feedback. Definitely looks like Chessnut is the way I’ll go.

Hello Nelson, I must say I truly enjoy the way this course is put together. Hats off to you Sir! I finished with module 3 and now I am looking forward to spending many more hours diving into the rest of this course. I’ve been playing the two openings you suggested and have seen much improvement in my game play (finally) I have yet to try the…

Thanks for the kind words, Paul! Really glad it’s got you excited to play again! Good luck with the rest of the course!
