OK, I tried to play Owen’s Defense and check out this trap I fell into on move 4. I thought he blundered the pawn, but it turns out I blundered my castle rights. I hung around and was able to grind out a win I didn’t deserve, but that 4. Bxf7+ was pretty clever.
1. e4 b6
2. Nf3 Bb7
3. Bc4 Bxe4 ?!
4. Bxf7+ !! Kxf7
5. Ng5+ ! Ke8…

Moving the kings pawn in the standard sequence is my way of preventing this. I almost never deviate at that point unless things are already totally weird.
But it only takes one nasty little tactic at the end to win sometimes. Congrats on pulling it out. The computer clearly hated this game. Never discount winning desperate games on a…

I’m really enjoying the class. I’ve been working my way through the course (half way through module 4) but I spent a lot of extra time on Chapter 3 getting familiar with the recommended openings, as they are pretty different from what I was used to playing.
