James Bryce, an English philosopher from the 1800s once said, “ 3/4 of the mistakes a man makes are because he doesn’t know what he THINKS he knows.” That said, i struggle with tunnel vision, whereby i am so focused on MY plan/strategy i do NOT see those Bishops lurking on the side of the board (or Queen) and lose a key piece. How can i avoid putting my multi-step plan into action and avoid blunders like those gangsters hiding in the shadows? Bryan
PS I just started playing chess in January this year at age 70… so there is a lot to learn and not much time LOL!

If you haven’t gotten to it yet, check out the Avoiding Blunders part of the course. I found the blunder check procedure to be really helpful.

Same boat as me. ( And thousands of others) I think we’re going to need a bigger boat. I think im playing for the other side at times. It has been said that if we can just avoid blunders we would be among the upper group of players.
Discipline is what I need. Tunnel vision is my enemy too
Keep going along with the course and improvement will come.
