I want to go through the course a second time — which is possible but not as satisfying as it is when ticking off the progress through the course as one did the first time. Would it be possible to reset the course progress back to the beginning or would that be a bear to implement for some unintuitive reason? In any event, I enjoyed the courses and am glad that Nelson is still pumping out videos. It would have been a shame to lose him to poker.
The thing that really stuck from the course and the video is the idea of being aggressive and not too easily diverted by threats that can be safely ignored. Also, not before and not after the course have I run against anyone who made Nelson’s observation that getting close to the king will, in itself, often create opportunities. I like that distinction. It often helps when one is not quite clear on how to proceed. It’s the other side of the kick-your-opponent-off-your-side-of-the-board coin. I note that the games that I win are the games in which I can get near the opponent and keep him mostly on his own side of the board.
Obvious I guess, but only after you know to look for it. Thanks to Nelson for the distinctions. Ah! If only I could spot mating opportunities as readily as he does. As for getting so much done in the last 30 seconds of a game, THAT’S not going to happen for me. The guy’s amazing in a time crunch.
