CJ posted an update
It would be a lot easier to ask for help here if I could post images of board positions or games.
Something happened tonight where practically every opponent is just playing pawn moves in an interlocked formation while I develop which means they threaten developed pieces with pawns while their other pieces rest on the back rank.
I know this wouldn’t mess up a better player but how the heck do I learn to deal with it. Neither your openings nor anything else I’m encountered doesn’t stop this. Ultimately pawns take major pieces or you retreat until you have no space.
This can’t be new, so what do I do? I’m basically through pins in the middle game but this is more an opening issue.
I’m down to 400 ELO because nothing seems to cover what to do about this and I’m not good enough to beat it. Opening principles can go hang when every move gets attacked by pawns.

You can post images. Just take screenshots of the position, then use the camera icon in the comment box, like this:

Sigh, I’m going to have to get something to screenshot to file. I’ll work on it but it’s late and the one thing that for sure isn’t in your coursework is cats that want something indescribable RIGHT NOW and are jumping on my mouse and keyboard. I’ll be back but the trouble I’m having are either long pawn chains or and advancing V shape of pawns. Maybe more games will enlighten me. Losing costs little at my level.

I’m currently playing someone on a ” daily ” game ( both black & white ) & with both of them they are more or less just advancing pawns 😵💫 . They are higher rated than I am & just waiting to see what their plan is & remembering that pawns can’t go backwards !! First time it’s happened to me , so ……. ??
-
Also , can’t help feeling it must surely weaken their king’s situation w/o pawns around 😵💫

Honestly their position sucks if I broke through without losing a lot of material. I’ll mess with it. Losing rank means I’ll be back to other tactics so may have to advance a bit to get back to this. I’m mainly playing 10 minute but could go to 30. But usually 10 minute gives some time to think and learn and even win without a substantially larger time commitment.

If this happened in a 10 min game , think I’d poss try to use my pawns to counter theirs , but not happened in those games …. yet !

Except my pieces are forward and often interfering especially with Owens. I’m messing around now trying to build back some rank. Stonewall is a good opening though I had some others for white. I was suffering with black until I got Owens which keeps it simpler. Unfortunately it’s passive on the front end.
Here you see the remains of his stonewall style defense with a checkmate I’m pleased with. I got his queen and pawn with a pin to his king earlier and all I had to do was not blunder badly after that, an ever present risk. The mate is almost artistic. Never mind the 5 games I lost prior to this.

What a lovely mate – well done . Just played a rapid game ( Owens ) & my opponent made the pawn moves you were talking about . No idea how to put the whole game on here , but hopefully I can put the final position here ( my techno knowledge is minimal 😵💫

Just asked if anyone ( poss James ) if they could post a link to the whole game for me ! Far from perfect , but might be of use to you ??? Just trying to help if I can 😄

And another loss. I’m not seeing future lessons on dealing with this kind of mess. I was on the receiving end of tactics here which avoiding is later lessons. But the problem remains it was stonewall on stonewall. https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/108500169610
I felt forced into a similar strategy which I’m still unfamiliar with and lost to traps.
