Can anyone from the United States help me?
Is it bad manners to use your first name in a post? Since I’m German, I’m not familiar with the proper etiquette in your country. So I wanted to ask first before I offend anyone.6 Comments-
I’m not from the USA but been there, I think is fine to use the first name

Hi Ronald, first names in this situation are actually more appropriate. I studied German for many years in school and I can assure you that I understand where you are coming from. For Americans the reverse is true. We tend to err toward the informal when speaking with Germans we might not know very well. Hope this helps!! Good luck.

@wbsherwingmail-com Hi William, thank you for the friendly reply. Yes, that helps me a lot because as you probably know, we in Germany, at least in my generation (1951), tend to be a bit stiff with manners. Nice to know that you have learned German. Auch Ihnen viel Glück und Erfolg.
