You’re hoping that white takes either D5 or F5, without pushing their king pawn into E5. It’s not a guaranteed opening but it’s got some interesting mechanics that can be very good. I’ve been playing a bunch of unrated games against players rated from -25 to +100, jut to get ready to make the climb to 1000. Players in the high 1000’s to 1100’s are noticeably stronger. Seeing the game from white’s perspective really helped me see the weaknesses of Owen’s defense. Certain moves need to be played, otherwise the weaknesses become very easy to exploit (i.e. Nf6). Your opponent had you on the ropes for a while, and I was reliving&hellip;</p>

Now that you mention it, I do recall thinking the examples were made up of other tactics and then the Zwischenzug was an extra, nearly invisible, step. I would get discouraged because I almost couldn’t distinguish the Zwisch from any other tactic. All the moves stared to blur together and almost just seemed like a big combo&hellip;</p>

Another thing I’m seeing a lot is the fianchetto setup on the king’s side. It’s a bit tricky to break it apart, but I’ve still managed to win a few of those with clever maneuvering.
