  • I love Nelson’s chess videos and have been watching his channel for years.

But sadly, as a native French speaker, I cringe each time Nelson says “en passant” and pronounces a hard T at the end.

In French, final Ts are not usually pronounced, it should be “en passan” to rhyme with “croissant”, and sounds like “pa-sonn”.

I hope one day he can fix this.

    • Sounds cooler your way

      • Telling non-French speaking people “en passant” rhymes with “croissant” isn’t really helping though as most put a hard T on croissant as well. The worst butchering of that I’ve heard is “CROY-cents” 😂🤣
But now that I know that “croissant” rhymes with “en passant” I’ll be pronouncing that properly now.
