I think Nelson’s lesson starts out d4 e3 Bd3 f4. Nf3 can block check. I was reminded going through a lesson only helps after you master it through hundreds of accurate games (above 85% is a good goal). Most of my games as a beginner are well below that. Yes that’s how he teaches it! But I’ve been messed up with poopheads bringing the queen out before I can get that knight on f3! They know I am going for stonewall and will mess up my “wall” and check me and go back before I can get my bishop up. You think it would be better to push my f pawn out first so I can get my bishop out? Or at that point…
