Keep at it Martin. I found module 7 extremely good and have just re watched the module today to brush up on it. It covers the basic ideas around the middle game (other than tactics). Try and plough through the lessons as you’ll have a grasp of all the ideas in the course and then rewatch ones as you struggled with or are relevant to faults…

I think we all have a bit of this so you’re not alone!

I think Tim has the right idea, we are just students of the game and we will win and lose and our rating will go up and down but hopefully with a gradual increase. I lost a couple of games the other day but I got so much out of the game reviews after and got a nice win today off the back…

HI Sean, That’s a couple of tough games there and both your opponents made it difficult. I’m not too far ahead of you in rating terms so take what I say in that context.

In the first one you had a good set up until the queen move to g3. The blunder is because of your Rook getting trapped but thats a hard tactic to see and your opponent missed…

A nice win James and you have my respect for doing the blunder checks. I’m still trying to implement the blunder checks but still find that sometimes don’t do it thoroughly enough. I’m hoping after I get 10 or 20 games done with it that it might start to be more consistent and done from start to finish.

A superb win Nicholas after losing the rook. The eval bar was a joy to watch in those last few moves as it swung back and forth before win. Pure tenacity!

Hi Justin, I play the London some times also and I think I’d have played the Knight move on instinct also. I think its not liking the move as it may be too slow in this position. b4 takes space and starts a pawn charge with your pawn majority on the Queens side which can create real problems for black before they get all their pieces out.…

I’d guess that you value your rating on chess.com more than the others. I get an adrenaline rush when playing and have a winning position and also worry that I’m about to mess it up – thats when a bit of brain freeze can come in for me. Nelson touches on it in the Tilt section – have the mind set of win or lose we still gain something from it…
