Thought for a moment I was going to have a cheeky Tennyson on my hands, turned out to be a monumental fail in disguise

OMG! Just received this following message twice from chess.com, saying the game above and my previous were some kind of cheating: “We have detected that one or more of your recent opponents has violated our Fair Play Policy. As compensation for potentially unfair rating losses, we adjusted your following ratings:

Wild game! Completely crazy! I had only 70% accuracy, my opponent only 60% accuracy and yet my opponent was completely dominating the game. I somehow managed to find 2 brilliant moves according to the review to, then scrape a perpetual check….completely nuts game, and I was extremely fortunate to get a point out of it.

Don’t want to jinx this, but pre-course I was at 929, and I’ve just gone through the 1000 barrier and now at 1008. Hope I don’t live to regret putting this up, but actually quite chuffed that I’ve got through 1000.

6 days ago I broke through 1000 and tonight I have reached 1100.

In round 7 of the Texas tournament, why did that bishop move from your opponent Nelson necessitate sac’ing your Queen?
-
I wondered the same thing and did an analysis on it. If he unpins the queen by moving it, there’s too many discoveries and forks with the knights and bishops that you end up losing too much material (worse than queen).

Tom, losing the queen for 2 pieces is losing 9 and getting 6 points so really just like losing a piece (3 points). Of course that’s not ideal, but the other scenarios seemed even worse mainly to my king coming under fire. At least the way I did the game could go on and I had a fighting chance (although slim).

Oh man, what happened? Such a promising position, and I squandered it! On the review, I’m not quite understanding the recommended moves 32+ – seems to make my position worse as far as I can tell…..
-
Tom can you include the link to the game? I’ll take a look.

My 1st go at the Owens Defence as black and I play an INCREDIBLY aggressive player graded at 822! Unbelievable sustained attacking, but I managed the win. I notice people like to ‘abandon’ the game rather than resign – how do you abandon a game?
-
Hi Tom, thanks for sharing this!
When people “abandon” a game, they’re usually just closing the app or browser mid-game instead of formally resigning. The platform then waits a bit before automatically declaring a win on time or abandonment. It’s not the most sportsmanlike way to finish a game, but it happens.
You’re doing great, keep…

1st go at the stonewall! Despite winning the opponent’s Q thankfully they missed a mate! Lucky win for me!
