What’s the best way to attack when you’re in the basic Stonewall setup, but you’ve also got the Black king stuck in the center? Is it basically to push your center pawns in order to open up a file for your major pieces?

Personally, if my king is castled and my rook is on the f file, I’ll try to set up a battery with my queen. It also depends on where some of your opponent’s pieces are because if you hop your knight in the pocket to offer the trade in the center and they don’t take it, that automatically leaves a spot in front of their king that you can try to get into with your queen from the h file. It varies with each game but those are at least a couple of tactics to look for.

Here’s a daily game where I was able to open the f file and the diagonal for my dark squared bishop and mount a decent attack. He managed to get away castling queen side, but I was still able to get a nice rook for bishop trade out of it. https://www.chess.com/game/daily/708555273
