I’d love some thoughts on how much to practice while going thru the course. So far I’ve been playing several 5m or 10m games on Chess.com each day. I’d suppose the “right amount” likely varies from person to person but I’d love any general thoughts you might have on practice, how much time one needs to devote daily/weekly to derive real benefit from the course, etc.

No right or wrong answer but I’d recommend 50/50 as a good guideline. Half the time you work through the course -half the time you play and practice what you’ve been learning.

For me, after I got through the openings chapter, I stated watching one video a day and then playing games after that, while consciously trying to apply the principles explained. For example I used to play London/Pirc’s but just to adjust to the course and learn through I’m playing these new openings (and having fun with Owen’s to be honest). But I feel like (again, that is for me, everyone is different) the main thing that will help is to actively trying to think through the learnt material, even though I end up losing on time a lot because of it (or blundering at the end because of lack of time).

Did you try increasing the time duration of your games to give you more time to think?
