  • Thought I was doing OK until I watched the discovered attack module. Honestly I was only able to see 1 easy solution and the Smothered mate . All the rest were either way beyond me or I only got the first part of the multiple move ones. Not sure what to think about my short comings on this.

      Try playing custom puzzles on Chess.com aimed at particular tactics. I would recommend not going past the Blunder Check module until you feel comfortable with each of the tactics. In my opinion the basic principles and tactics are more important than memorizing lots of openings.

      My question on the Owens is , after
      1. e4-b6
      2. d4-b7
      3. ? why doesn’t white simply play d5 ?
      seems like that would block the attack on e4 with a pawn defended by its queen

      • You would just attack their pawn in that case with e6 and then Nf6 and they actually have a lot to worry about otherwise their center will collapse. I believe we talked about it in one of the previous group coaching calls, so I’d say go watch those when you have time and it should answer a lot of that question. Hope that helps!
