Owens idea with long castle
Good game to my opponent; unfortunately he blundered a knight. I played the 2000 elo bot afterward to learn more.

Don't ever quit
Past few games I’ve punished myself by resigning every time I blundered a piece. Realizing that’s immature I decided to start thinking again. 4th win in a row is below and I wanted so bad to quit but suddenly turned it around. Good game to my opponent.

I am glad you got lucky, I always end up losing on time. It is a waste of time to keep playing a losing position in my opinion.

I think a mistake by your opponent is always possible so definitely keep playing until it hits that tipping point where you’ve lost all your pieces.

I think unless you are just dead lost, resigning isn’t an option, at least for me. If you’re up there in elo it’s probably disrespectful not to resign. I find my opponents often get overconfident and leave themselves open to tactics after I blunder a piece.

Ha! I thought of that same exact series of moves thinking it would win the pawn, at move 13. Then you do the same thing a few moves later.. both of us gave up M1 by not calculating far enough!

Thought I was in trouble for a bit but pulled another rabbit out of my hat. I wasn’t even thinking about the mating attack. Good game to my opponent!

That was a great mating attack! So many long range pieces lined up on their king, you’ll be able to find something from it. Great use of the pins!

After 11. Qxe4 you’re down material, so don’t trade queens. You should complicate the position. In that case I would’ve Bb5+, they likely would’ve blocked with c6 (to avoid losing castling rights), but then you have them with Re1!
I’m not sure why they abandoned the game with equal material..

I looked at your suggestion and ended up looking a bit worse but I will remember your suggestion! Thanks! Probably a connection issue with the abandonment.

I strongly disagree. Resign immediately and move on to the next game. It is not worth it to defend and then still lose on time. At one point 60% of my losses where on time. What a waste of effort. If the tricked you and won a piece early it is very unlikely that you will ever recover. Quit and quit wasting time.

I’m enjoying the chess.com bots lately. Julia 1800 is good at shutting down the stonewall with dutch or french looking defenses and pawn storms on my castled king. This photo is just one of the examples of its fun openings. My goal is play accurately despite losing and use some of the ideas behind the stonewall, when blacks position allows.

Just broke 1100 after several trips between 850 and 1000. This game was actually relatively free of errors for me until I missed and turned a mate in 1 into a mate in 7. Funny how that adrenaline does. Good game to my opponent 👍🏼chess.com

Great playing the whole way through! Nice forks, pressure without a lot of unnecessary risk (I probably would’ve castled a bit sooner). The ending doesn’t matter if it’s M1 or M7.. those open positions aren’t as easy to find M1 anyway. Most important is trading off the pieces to minimize any counterattacking or perpetuals if they have a…

This was a really unusual game for me. A lot of pawn moves. I got lucky and eeked out a win but was nervous watching the clock.

This has to be the weirdest opening I have faced using the stonewall. The review is ugly and I didnt even realize it was checkmate until it happened 😅
