Ok so i have lost 70 % of all my games since playing stonewall and owens defence… way more than average. Any1 else having same?

      • Lost 50 elo points since implementig

        • Didn’t try the stone wall since I really like the Vienna for white. but for black, the owens defense seems to be very solid and the bishop is super powerful.

          • How many games have you played? I lost my first two but then went on to win 4 in a row but as I posted earlier, I was only able to get the owens set up one time and then the other games I didn’t have a chance to get owens or stonewall going so had to rely just on basic chess principles. I’m around 560 Elo so I just think its more unpredictable.

            • Remko are you losing out of the opening or making mistakes later? Remember, the opening generally isn’t what causes the wins and losses most of the time. It’s probably a mistake later in the game, especially if you’re following the recommended ides from Module 3. Feel free to post a game and I might be able to help you more.

            • Remko if it helps, I often show an immediate dip when learning a new opening because I don’t have a good feel for it at first. If someone plays directly into the main line, then I’m like “this is awesome, I love it!” But then someone takes it down a sideline and I make mistakes.

Take a look at my profile below. When I start trying to learn a new opening, I usually have a dip, then a recovery, then I try to learn another…with a dip, then a recovery. I’m not saying it’s great, but you aren’t alone

              • The first dip was trying to learn the Danish Gambit. Next was trying out the London. Then when I tried out using the French Defense (vs e4) and the Dutch (vs e5).

              • I am doing well with the Owens but really struggling with the Stonewall even when I play moves out of order to fit the scenario. I’m only 800-900 elo though.

                • Thanks 4 replies..the main issue is when the opponent doesnt play in line and i struggle in the middle game. It seems i get stuck within my own stonewall with no moves to play. Opponent then slowly creeps up on me. And with owens opponent often pushes pawns up the board blocking my pieces from getting in action. I will see if i can post a game 4 review

                  • LoL this is me, trying to break 600 for the last two months

                    • Follow up: after rewatching the video’s for under 800 and watchjng the onces for over 800 upto 1500 i managed to get the hang of it more. Starting to see the various counter moves and how to reply. I started this course around 670 (highest so far 717) and dropped to under 630 and am 707 currently even with blundering my Queen in 2 games. Hurray! I can smell the 800 points already hahaha
